At least i had the sense to talk.
“I’ll find a taxi.” I replied, praying furiously in my mind that he doesn’t decide it was okay and leave me. My prayers were answered, he was really here for me as I had hoped.
“But I can save you transport fare; besides it’s really hot here!”
“Oh, don’t you worry about that, I can take some heat and I have more than enough for the fare.”
He chuckled and crossed his arms around his chest.
“You like playing hard to get, don’t you?”
I felt the blood rush to my cheeks. If I had been a white girl, he would have seen me blush real red but luckily for me, my black skin colour masked the blush perfectly. At least now I had the decency to look away.
I liked him instantly. He was a man who said all the right words. Mere thinking of that set my pulse racing. He was my type, and he was totally hitting on me. I did not say anything. I was not usually like that, but I could not say anything. Words had totally eluded me.
When we were both certain I was not going to say anything, he spoke again.
“I’m Khalifa.” He said.
Yeah, I totally liked playing hard to get, but there was no sense in playing hard in a situation like this.
“Huh, Sahara!” He nodded. “So do you want me to give you that ride, or you still want to play around with me a little?”
That was my turn to chuckle.
“After you, I said.”
